“Fear is the mind killer.”
I started my professional career in sales in the shipping industry, in the export and import sector. From the beginning, I was in an environment that was very focused on sales. You sit in a big office, talk to customers, inform them about their packages and coordinate everything with suppliers. These experiences taught me how to optimize deals and solve problems to reduce time and costs. My path took me from DHL to Maersk and back to DHL in the field. But I quickly realized that I didn't want to settle for just negotiating prices. I was looking for the opportunity to sell physical products and be more creative in doing so.
I moved into the foam industry through a friend, purely by chance. In this industry you have to find solutions quickly. The last thing companies think about is the packaging of the item. Every time, that's the last thing that comes. Customers are very quick to adopt solutions and I like that. I like being innovative under pressure.
I've learned over the years that sales is about understanding and listening to the customer's pain and needs, rather than simply trying to close a sale. The way I approach my sales allows me to help customers overcome their challenges and open them up to innovative ideas they may not have considered. I'm both a "go-giver" and a "go-getter," which means I have to be there for my customers no matter how big the project.
I knew Novapor before I came here and I knew that Novapor was very well known in Europe and a very trustworthy company. I also had the impression from the outside that it is a very professional company that approaches change in a good way and looks at the market very professionally. When I arrived here I had that expectation and that is how I see it today. I love the way we do things. Also with Novapor Nordic it is about building up something, doing all that, thinking about how we can approach strategic changes. I think Novapor works much more like a Scandinavian company than a German company because it is very dynamic and decisions are made quickly.
